On the 11th of December Monkbarns Care Home Manager along with the two Activity Coordinators/ Dementia Ambassadors went along to Arbroath Academy to do a training session on raising awareness of how people with Dementia may feel, and also to discuss the different career paths within the care home and the different options available to further their education and career with regards to the different qualifications they could obtain through the care industry, through funded courses and also courses which have been paid for by the company.  Following on from our visit with the Dementia suit and eye condition glasses, the students are eager to learn more about what causes Dementia and Alzheimer’s.  The students also empathised with their loved ones who have or had suffered from the illness.  One student remarked, “I now know how my granny feels”.  Even the Head Teacher and Home Economics got involved and tried on the gloves which induces hand tremors. The students are also going to pay Monkbarns a visit on the 18th of December to put on a performance and bring along goodies which they have made in their home economics class, this collaboration is now being included as part of their grading for this year.
