Mexican Themed Day at Monkbarns cafe on the 1st of November Instead of having a Halloween party this year, Monkbarns had a Mexican themed day with aspects from Dia De Los Muertos, which like Halloween celebrates the sprits returning to the earth. However, this day concentrates more on family members who have passed on, with the emphasis on celebrating the lives they lead and the important roles they played in life. This celebration largely involves different kinds of foods, writing letters and poems to the dear departed and lots of colour and vibrant decorations. The residents really enjoyed getting involved with helping to create the decorations, they especially enjoyed colouring in the sugar skulls and other Mexican design sheets as well as writing their letters to their family members no longer with us. They also loved seeing, touching and tasting the ingredients they would choose for their meals.
