Resident with hot chocolate

Probably, when the favourite Christmas pop song,  ‘Baby It’s Cold Outside’, was written, the drinks they were talking about were not the hot frothy type! But there’s nothing, better when Jack Frost is nipping at your nose, and your toes – and everything else! – than a steaming mug of hot Chocolate.

It’s thick, silky, no other drink warms our tastebuds – and the soul – quite like it. And at Balhousie Alastrean near Aboyne they jumped at the chance to celebrate National Hot chocolate day this week, with all the trimmings: squirty cream, marshmallows, the lot!

Did you know, the first origins of the cocoa bean being made into a drink goes back to 500 BC! But it wasn’t until 1828 that powdered chocolate was developed, and in that moment the chocolate bar and instant hot chocolate were born. Amen!

And talking of chocolate bars, Balhousie Willowbank in Carnoustie, have been melting theirs down into liquid lusciousness for a chocolate dipping day – marshmallow, Turkish Delight and lots of sprinkles.
