As the unseasonable warmth seems to be finally coming to an end, it’s time to stock up on those winter warmers!
Balhousie Alastrean in Tarland residents have been taking stock, by making vegetable soup, ably supported by 17-year-old Lucy joining the cook-up.
A student at Alford Academy, Lucy has joined Alastrean for work experience as part of her foundation apprenticeship. She aims to go on and study nursing once she has left school.
Lucy loves being with residents, finding out about them, taking the time to look through their memories, and getting the soup broiling too! Next Tuesday she’ll be bringing in her kilt to perform some highland dancing.
In the words of Marge Kennedy, poet, writer (and notably editor of the Sesame Street Magazine!)
‘Soup is a lot like a family. Each ingredient enhances the others; each batch has its own characteristics; and it needs time to simmer to reach full flavor.’
Alastrean’s soup looks to be infused to perfection!
