Balhousie Care Group has launched a low-dependency living option as it gears up for the changing needs of older people.

The award-winning care home provider is adding two exclusive accommodation units in Aberdeenshire, as part of a move to offer as wide a range of accommodation as possible to clients.

Two stunning new units adjoining the existing Balhousie Huntly care home will provide 10 high-spec rooms and “just the right balance of privacy and assistance”, according to Balhousie Care Group, which runs 25 homes across the north and east of Scotland.

With smart TVs and sound systems, wi-fi and dedicated staffing, the units are aimed at low-dependency clients. Residents will have full access to facilities and activities at the adjoining care home. Balhousie Care Group is investing £750,000 on the properties, which are expected to be ready at the end of the summer.

Claire Docherty, Head of Operations at Balhousie Care Group, said the Huntly units would bridge the gap between independent and care home living. “The exclusive new units at Huntly are being outfitted with all the very best fixtures and décor, providing just the right balance of privacy and assistance for residents with low-dependency needs. This is a significant move for us as we look to cater to the growing and ever-changing needs of our population of older people. It’s important that we offer customers a wider and more flexible range of accommodation than the standard care home setting,” she said.

The build is part of a busy expansion programme for the company, which hopes to break ground next year on two brand new care homes in Dundee. Plans for a 45-bedroom home at Fairmuir Road, Dundee were recently approved by Dundee City Council.

A public competition is currently underway to name the Huntly accommodation. For more details visit Balhousie Care Group visit www.balhousiecare.co.uk
