Two of Balhousie Care Group’s staff shone at a glittering awards ceremony last night honouring some of the country’s top employees.

Liz Thomson, Activities Coordinator at Balhousie Huntly, added to her growing list of
accolades with a win in the s1Jobs Recruitment Awards.

The growing media star, who has featured on TV and in national and local press for being older than many of her residents, won the Shona McKenzie Shine Award. It recognises those who “go above and beyond their call of duty, offer excellent service and take pride in their work.”

Liz, 81, received her prize at a glittering ceremony last night in Glasgow. She received a glowing write-up in today’s Herald newspaper. The win comes hot on the heels of Liz being shortlisted in the Great British Care Awards’ regional finals, and appearing on STV.

Commended in the same Shine category was Jen Aitchison, Manager at ASC. The specialist services arm of Balhousie has strengthened and grown under Jen’s leadership, and improved its grades.

Jill Kerr, Group CEO, said: “It’s wonderful to see Liz and Jen’s achievements recognised. They are both an absolute credit to the company. Congratulations to both!”
