MEDIA RELEASE: 9 July 2024
Four team members at Stormont Lodge care home in Blairgowrie – one of leading care provider BCG’s group of homes in Perthshire – are preparing to scale a 1,083-metre Highland peak this month, for the benefit of their residents.
Activities Coordinator, Ashleigh Henvey will be joined by Care Assistants Lawana Milne, Mags Mclellan and Sandra Keldanovic for a hike up Schiehallion on Thursday, 18 July.
“None of the four of us have bagged a Munro before, so this will be an education,” says Ashleigh.
“We want to give our residents an extra fun summer and get out of our comfort zone at the same time. We love to do something a bit ‘out-there’ n the summer, raising extra funds to super-fuel our activities budget, and Schiehallion is certainly out there! We’re also looking forward to putting on a barbecue with our wonderful residents, to celebrate scaling those heights. We just need the weather to improve a little for both!”
Could Munro-bagging become a new regular pastime for the team? “I’m open to the idea,” laughs Ashleigh. “Especially if it goes well!”
