Residents at Balhousie Glens care home in Edzell, Angus are enjoying the benefits of an upgrade, as well as a lift in grades.

Refurbishment work at The Glens has seen an extensive revamp of lounge and dining areas. The new look follows a highly positive Care Inspectorate report which rated the 31-bedroom facility 4, or “good”, for staffing and the care it shows residents.

The ‘4’ grades related to treating people with compassion, dignity and respect, the health benefits residents get from their care and support, and a setting which “promotes and enables people’s independence”.

Independent interior designer Jackie Hovde and The Glens’ Maintenance Operative Robbie Roberts worked on the care home upgrades.

Jill Kerr, Group CEO with Balhousie Care Group, said: “We’re delighted with the latest grades at The Glens and congratulate manager Jacqueline Donley and the care home staff for their hard work. Our design and property services staff have done some amazing work to upgrade the home and the result is a smart but cosy environment. The feedback across the home, from residents and staff to visitors, has been extremely positive.”

The Glens is a beautifully restored former hotel that has been expertly converted and offers residential, nursing, respite and palliative care.
