Comedian and actor Janey Godley made care home staff’s day when she recorded a video praising them for their “sterling” work.
Janey, famous for her First Minister voiceover and ‘Frank, get the door!’ catchphrase, made the video message for staff of Balhousie Care Group as part of Professional Care Workers’ Week.
In it, she praises staff for doing a “sterling job”, particularly in getting to grips with the new infection prevention and control protocols brought in because of COVID-19.
“I just wanted to give all my love and support to everyone working in the care homes, working with all the protocols, having to learn everything new, and putting your life on the line to look after the auld yins,” says Janey. “My dad was an auld yin in a care home and I really appreciate that, from the bottom of my heart. You guys are doing a sterling job.”
A spokesperson for Balhousie Care Group said: “Like Janey, our hardworking care home staff are great at seeing the funny side of things. So we thought it would give them a boost to receive a special message from Janey during Professional Care Workers’ Week. A huge thank you to Janey from all of them. She really made their day.”
The Perth-based Balhousie Care Group has 26 elderly and specialist care facilities in Scotland. The award-winning firm has more than 1400 staff. View the video at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kAhtalmZ1n4
