When our Monkbarns care home in Arbroath shared news of our recent changes in visiting guidelines, it was met with excitement, and a few happy tears, from residents.

Home Manager Sarah-Jane Patterson caught a few of her residents on camera reacting to news of out-of-home visits, trips down the seaside, and car trips with their relatives and friends.

Our new out-of-home guidelines, detailed here, came during the same week that retail, gyms and hospitality opened up across Scotland. Says Sarah-Jane: “This is an important step forward for residents and an emotional one too. One of our ladies is meeting two new great-grandchildren whom she’s only seen once before now. Another of our residents, Forbes, was teary with happiness – then said he was going to open a bottle of whisky to celebrate!”
