We have a name for our upscale new residential units in Huntly, Aberdeenshire. Following a public naming competition, the winner is… Milton Mews!

The winning entry came from Kerrick Scott (pictured), who suggested Milton after Strathmilton of Bogie, the historic name for Huntly. Kerrick receives £100 worth of Love2shop gift vouchers, a hamper of goodies from Deans of Huntly, and an invitation to the official opening of the units.

The high-end new property, which features 10 upscale suites across two stand-alone units, are aimed at low-dependency clients. Residents will enjoy a dedicated staff, wi-fi and smart TVs, cooking facilities and carvery and breakfast in bed meal options. They will also have access to all the facilities, activities and dining facilities of Balhousie Huntly care home, which is just steps away. Milton Mews at Balhousie is due to open in three weeks.

The naming competition was run in the Huntly Express newspaper and via social media, with residents of Balhousie Huntly care home casting the final vote.

“I did a bit of research and saw that Strathmilton of Bogie was the old name for Huntly, and also that a few of the streets surrounding the Balhousie Huntly care home include Milton in their name,” said Kerrick, from Dundee.

Jill Kerr, Group Chief Executive Officer of Balhousie Care Group, said: “Milton Mews was the runaway winner among our residents of Balhousie Huntly and we couldn’t be happier with the choice. For us, Milton Mews captures the history of the town and the exclusivity of our new units. We can’t wait to get them up and running.”
