On Thursday 13th December Balhousie Lisden residents, Irene, Anne, Netty, Harold and Donald went back in time to the Verdant Works in Dundee.
They all remembered the hard work done in the Jute Mills and enjoyed a guided tour of the old Mill. Residents and staff were given a demonstration of the old looms still in working order. Irene explaining jute mills had been a big part of family life. She was proud to have followed in her Grandfather’s footsteps. Starting work in that very mill when she was 14 years old.
After an afternoons reminiscing a much needed cup of tea and scones awaited us in the Museum cafe.
