When 7-year-old Holly Nayles from Pitlochry was asked by her teacher to write about her favourite superhero, she knew just who to choose – her mum.

Holly’s mum, Eilidh Thomson, is a care assistant at Balhousie Pitlochry care home in Highland Perthshire and has, along with her other Balhousie Care Group colleagues, been working extra hard to keep residents safe during the Coronavirus Crisis.

Currently in Primary 3 at the local school in Pitlochry, Holly is sure her teacher, Mrs Callaghan, will agree that her mum is exactly how she described: “a cool and amazing superhero”.

Eilidh is delighted to be Holly’s superhero. She said:

“It has been such a strange year and tough in so many ways, but particularly for our kids. I’m really proud to be Holly’s chosen superhero for the work I do caring for our residents at Balhousie Pitlochry and hope she gets a good mark from Mrs Callaghan for choosing me!”

Claire Mackay, Home Manager at Balhousie Pitlochry Care Home, added:

“Eilidh is what we at Balhousie Care Group call an Everyday Hero, doing amazing work caring for our residents in her care. Holly’s right to call her mum a superhero – in fact Eilidh works with a whole team of them.”
