MEDIA RELEASE: 02 August 2024

A Housekeeper at Wheatlands care home in Bonnybridge – a BCG care home, one of Scotland’s leading care providers – recently took on a James-Bond-styled, extreme sports stunt in support of the residents’ float at the upcoming Bonnybridge summer gala day, next Saturday, 10 August.

Denise Biddie, a Bonnybridge resident, bravely paraglided off the Yassi Hill of the Taurus Mountains in Alanya, Turkey, raising £270 in the process, to give even more ‘oomph’ to their float decoration.

Denise said: “This was something I’ve thought about doing for a while, so having the incentive of raising a little extra money to expand the activities for our home and wonderful residents, gave me the push to finally do it.

“It was an amazing experience and I loved every minute of it. It was also a great feeling knowing how much everyone in Wheatlands was supporting me. The staff team, and the residents are like one big family”

Denise’s efforts tied in seamlessly with the theme of Wheatlands’ float for the gala next weekend, which is ‘everyday heroes.’
