residents and support workers looking out over loch lomond

Residents from out Specialist Dementia and Huntington’s unit, Balhousie Rumbling Bridge, took to the sea last week!

The trip out to Loch Lomond, and onto the Sea Life Centre, was the idea of new Senior Support Worker, Taylor – not only to see the Loch and enjoy the sunshine, and to see the sea life, but because our residents really benefit from sensory activities. And the Sea Life Centre gives great opporunities for those.

Staff and residents all took to the Kinross home’s accessible bus to Lomond Shores, where they first took in a cafe for some lunch before adventuring into the blue, underwater world.

Senior Support Worker, Cat, Administrator Carrie, and Activities Coordinator David supported our residents, and Taylor in her sensory trip.

Resident Gerry’s favourite part of the day was the ‘water world’ while Marie loved the otters. Mags and Chris simply loved it all (especially the lobsters)!

A life on the ocean wave was a great success… especially when, as requested by all, they stopped off for a McFlurry on the way home!
