Residents and staff at Balhousie Alastrean showed their support for the people of Ukraine by planting sunflowers – Ukraine’s national flower.
The planting was a huge hit; not only was it an extra-meaningful activity, it gave everyone a bit of exercise and a chance to enjoy the Spring weather.
Staff were congratulated by relatives, one of whom has offered to donate garden products so that Alastrean House near Aboyne can continue with its green-fingered projects.
Alastrean’s Pam Shearer quoted Helen Keller when she posted the story on the home’s private Facebook page: “Keep your face to the sunshine and you cannot see the shadows. It’s what the sunflowers do.”
