Activities Coordinator, Tracey Cannon, was looking for a new and unusual activity for her wonderful residents at Balhousie The Glens in Edzell. When she came across the Animal Man and his mini Zoo and knew she’d found what she was looking for.
A mobile petting zoo, also specialising in animal therapy, and a family-run business established since 2003, they now have a wide range of feathered, scaled, and hairy friends! And all dynamically adapted to the needs and requirements of the group.
And so the close encounters of the animal kind took place! From chickens and guinea pigs to snakes, cockroaches and tarantulas! All the residents were super brave – and captivated to differing degrees – depending on whether they were dealing with birds, rodents, reptiles, spiders, insects or amphibians!
Their unique encounters were definitely well received by staff and residents as you can see by the transfixed, if not always smiling faces. And once the video of the experience was shared, loved by their families too, with one nephew saying, “Loved watching this! Auntie would be in her element wi’ a’ the beasties.”
