The team at Alastrean got out and about in the community, representing Balhousie at the famous Tarland Show.

Some of the staff from the Aberdeenshire home were at the legendary agricultural jamboree, holding a bottle stall to raise money for the residents’ comfort fund – which proved extremely popular with visitors to the show.

With the help of Dusty, the home’s multi-talented maintenance man, the team – including Home Manager, Teresa Kasza, and Activities Coordinator, Victoria Smith, spent the weekend raising the profile of the home.

Cherri Strachan, Michaela Anderson and their children manned the bottle stall on the day, handed out Balhousie gift bags and patrolled the ‘guess the teddy’s birthday’ stall, raising nearly £300 in the process.

Victoria said: “I spent almost two weeks labelling around 150 bottles for the stall, and they all went within hours!

“We couldn’t have done it without Dusty, who helped with the physical side of things, putting up the gazebo – and making breakfast for us!

“We are so grateful to the community for supporting us, and we hope to get them involved even more.”

Community outreach has been a theme at Alastrean in recent months. Earlier this year, the Aberdeenshire home opened a café, which as well as catering for residents and their families will also open its doors to the wider community on a regular basis.
