Kit Wallace had always dreamed of going on a motorbike ride – and at 93 she made the dream come true.

Kit, a resident at Balhousie Monkbarns care home in Arbroath, enjoyed a trip with granddaughter Kerry – all thanks to the kindness of the Davidson Legacy Preservation Group and two dedicated staff members.
Activities Coordinator Angela Crosby and Senior Carer Kath Cargill helped make Kit’s wish come true – and it was one she’d harboured for a long time.
Kit comes from a family of bikers and had a lifelong dream to get on the back of a bike but her father, being a bike owner himself and quite protective of his daughter, refused to allow her on the back.  A past boyfriend was a biker too but her passion was reignited when her granddaughters’ husband, Ally, brought up his motorbike for Kit to see.

Monkbarns had an outing to the circus and when Kit saw the motorbikes act, her face lit up and she said “I’d love to get on the back of that bike”.

Said Angela: “Kit was brought up with motorbikes and has always had a passion for them. Her birthday was approaching and we thought it would be amazing to see if we could contact anyone to help out.”
After posting on Facebook, Angela was contacted by the DLPG. The result? A ride on a three-wheeled trike and a birthday she’ll never forget.
And the story even made the front page of the local newspaper, The Courier!

Catherine Wallace, known to friends as Kit, celebrates her 93rd birthday today!

Says Angela: “We would like to say a huge thank you to everyone involved for making Kit’s dream come true – including the Harley Davidson Project and bike owner Andy Harper along with Nyree Aitken, the Chairperson of the Harley Davidson Legacy Preservation Group.”
