Variety is the spice of life – and according to Balhousie centenarian Christina Smith, it’s the secret to a long one, too.

Christina hit the national press over the weekend to share her tips for making it into triple figures.

The 100-year-old former bakery and retail worker, who lives at Balhousie Luncarty, was one of 100 centenarians from around the world who were interviewed by the Guardian for its “100 tips for a life well-lived” feature.

She said: “Living a good life and experiencing different things is what’s kept me healthy.

“I’m lucky to have been very social and active, including going to church every Sunday, and bowling and curling.

“Because I’ve been physically active I’ve been able to eat whatever I want, which is advice I would give to anyone. I’m partial to a wee brandy too.”
