Walking from Land’s End to John O’Groats is not for the faint-hearted – but that’s exactly what the residents of Balhousie Dalnaglar did.

Organised by Julie Davies, Activities Coordinator, several of those living in the Crieff home teamed up with staff, relatives and friends to walk a total of 874 miles – the distance from Land’s End to John O’Groats – around the home and grounds in just eight days.

In total they racked up more than 2.2 million steps, helping to plant six trees in the process.

Julie said: “Our residents did so well, covering the entire length of the UK in just over a week. We are so proud of them.

“It was fantastic to see them encouraging each other, working as a team and enjoying themselves as they went.

“We are also extremely grateful to all the friends and family who joined in, literally going the extra mile, and made comments about how nice it was to do so.

“Walking is so beneficial to our residents, who mean the world to us. It is great for their physical and mental health, and helps them socialise too. It is also great for the staff.”
