The history of chocolate goes back thousands of years. In fact, way back with the Aztecs, cocoa seeds even acted as a form of currency. However it came about, of all the celebration days for food, this may be the one most of us look forward to ‘observing’.
Did you know… yesterday, 7 July was #worldchocolateday? It’s suggested, because it’s the anniversary of the introduction of chocolate to Europe in 1550.
And many of our Activities Coordinators and residents made the most of the day. Balhousie Forth View in Methil indulged while doing a quiz – well, chocolate is brain food (or is that fish?)!
At Balhousie Willowbank in Carnoustie, they welcomed Avril and Bert to play. Residents could join in singing while enjoying their chocolate treats, or, with temperatures rising, a cooling Cornetto.
Meanwhile at Balhousie Monkbarns, Arbroath, they just went straight for the sweet stuff – dipping strawberries and marshmallows for that extra special yumminess.
As one of our amazing Activities Coordinators said, “It’s almost as good as Christmas!”
