The team at Balhousie Clement Park made it a birthday to remember for one resident by arranging for a mobile gaming experience to celebrate his big day.

Dean, a resident in the Dundee home’s Discovery Unit, is an avid gamer, and loves nothing more than settling down for a go on his consoles.

Ahead of his 50th birthday, the staff at Clement Park organised a visit from the Gaming Van, a swish vehicle filled with screens and consoles.

Dean had the time of his life – and some of the staff even got involved too!

“Dean had a fantastic afternoon with the staff enjoying his favourite pastime,” said Cheryl Roy, Home Manager at Clement Park.

“The Gaming Van came for two hours and they played against each other at games like Fifa, Fortnite and Mario Kart.

“Dean said he had lots of fun, and he was so grateful we had organised his birthday treat for him.”

Engaging in meaningful activities residents truly enjoy has been proven to help boost their mental health, while gaming stimulates the brain and improves the fine motor and problem solving skills.
