Brookfield - open day sign

Balhousie Care Group’s birthday celebrations headed into summer with a wonderful outdoor celebration at our latest care home to mark the company’s three decades in business, Balhousie Brookfield in Carnoustie.

Lots of plans came together to make a wonderful event, including a giant, blue ‘B’ – more of which later! The team pulled out all the stops to put together amemorable afternoon for all involved.  Michelle Farquharson prvided the singing entertainment and got everyone up and dancing. There was a tombola, raffle and Eden’s Garden petting zoo brought the smiles for all ages: tortoises, chickens, chinchillas, even hairless guinea pigs! Residents from Bahousie Monkbarns, Arbroath and the local Kinloch Care Centre also popped down to join in the fun. Even passers-by came along, drawn in by the peals of laughter.

And the sun shone. Which is just as well. Brookfield Activities Co ordinator, Moira got her husband, Callum to make a big blue ‘B’ as a sponge throwing stall. Residents and visitors got to lob their soggy missiles at ‘willing’ staff! Families and local businesses all fully supported the Carnoustie care home’s special day with kind donations for prizes. Truly a community event.

The team raised money for the comfort fund and Penny, their Care Home dog’s fund. On first count the amount raised was an whopping £602.00

The event also coincided with the last week of Home Manager, Laurie Easom, as she heads of on her next adventure and Deputy Manager, Lisa Thomson, takes the reins. Laurie said: “What a totally fantastic day was had by all: fun, family, friends and lots of very wet staff! Thank you to all of the relatives and friends of residents I have had the pleasure to meet over the last 2½ years. Our 30th birthday celebration was a wonderful ending of my time at Brookfield, making forever memories.”
