Balhousie Stormont Lodge care home is taking the festive season by the horns – or should we say antlers?

The Blairgowrie home has several exciting activities taking place with local community groups.

Kicking off a trio of events next week, Stormont Lodge is inviting residents’ relatives and friends along to a carol singing event. It takes place on Tuesday December 14 at 3.30pm inside the care home. The carol singers are from Blairgowrie Parish Church.

The following day, Wednesday December 15, Pitlochry Festival Theatre performs Scottish songs and poems at 4pm. The theatre group has had several collaborations with Balhousie Care Group homes, some of which have made national headlines. The latest is a series of free performances and activities workshops.

On Friday December 17 at 2.30pm, the care home holds a Christmas party for residents and relatives. Blairgowrie Lyric Choir will provide entertainment.

Balhousie Stormont’s year will culminate in a New Year’s Eve party at 2.15pm on Wednesday December 29. The entertainer is keyboard player Iris Hopkins.

The icing on Stormont’s Christmas cake is a donation of a Christmas tree (pictured) from Easter Rattray Farm. Residents had fun decorating the tree this week.

Home Manager Jules Ritchie-Urr said: “Community plays a key role for us here at Balhousie Stormont Lodge. We’re so lucky to have the support of the likes of Blairgowrie Parish Church, the Blairgowrie Lyric Choir, Pitlochry Festival Theatre and Easter Rattray Farm. Massive thanks to everyone who has helped.”
