Christmas is well known as one of the most magical times of the year and there was definitely a little magic in the air here at Lisden Care Home on Saturday 15th December for our annual Christmas Fayre. Little did we know we have the real life Mr and Mrs Claus living right under our very own roof! Residents, visitors and staff were in for a real treat when Mr and Mrs Claus otherwise known as residents Sandy and Ethel McPherson decided to pay our grotto a visit, which was decorated by dementia ambassador Sarah Brymer.
Residents Ellen, Irene, Margaret and Rosie were delighted to find that they hadn’t been placed on the naughty list this year and received gifts from Santa and his elf helper, who, when isn’t on elf duty is Lisden’s Care Home Manager, Madeana Laing. Santa enjoyed speaking to visiting children Amelia, Imogen and Harvey and hearing all about what they wanted for Christmas.
It was a festive fun filled afternoon where Santa’s other helpers nurse Helen Norrie, senior carer Fiona Hill and laundry assistant Janet Cheyne were going down a storm with visitors to the home getting lots of lucky wins on the tombola. Santa had even managed to have a word with a local Usborne book seller and cake baker who were here to lend a hand with stocking fillers for all.
The festive fun didn’t stop there as on Sunday 16th December, care assistant Pauline Cummings had arranged for our local beavers group to visit our home and sing carols. Residents loved signing along to the popular carols such as Jingle Bells and We Wish You a Merry Christmas.
We hope everyone had as much fun as we did and on behalf of the Lisden family we thank you for all your support in 2018 and wish you a very merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
