Jean Beattie, resident at Balhousie Brookfield

As part of our series on the staff and residents who feature in our TV advert, we meet Jean Beattie, a resident at Balhousie Brookfield.

Since her favourite pastime is dancing, Jean was delighted to do a waltz for the cameras.

Having moved into our Brookfield home in Carnoustie a couple of years ago, since then Jean has become part of the Brookfield family.

“They’re all very kind,” says Jean. “I could go up to any of them and they’ll always sit down with you for a chat.”

Before moving to Carnoustie, Jean was a secretary in Vidor Limited in Brechin while her son was at school and lived in Kinnaird, working at Kinnaird Castle as a bookkeeper.

Her absolute happy place is when she’s dancing as it brings back so many lovely memories. “I met my husband in the Guild Hall in Montrose when I was dancing,” reminisces Jean.

Her favourite dance is a quick step or a waltz. Her dad taught her all the dances when she was young. Jean just loves it when there’s live music performed in the home. “It’s always good to listen to music…I just love the place! This is just home now.
