Residents and staff from Balhousie Wheatlands care home welcomed Provost Billy Buchanan from Falkirk Council for a special Remembrance Service at the Bonnybridge care home. Held by Reverent George Macdonald, the ceremony proved emotional for many, but staff and residents were proud to have been able to participate.

Resident Jessie Hannah, who can remember the day World War II was declared by Winston Churchill when she was 14, said she felt “honoured” to present a wreath on behalf of Balhousie Wheatlands.

Piper James Acheson also played during the service to remember the pipers who lead troops into battle.

All the wreaths and flowers from staff and residents dedicated to the war fallen will be laid at the War Memorial at St Helen’s Church in Bonnybridge at the Remembrance service on Sunday.
