Balhousie Alastrean’s celebration of everything great about cream teas was so successful, the home plans to hold monthly events.

Victoria Smith, Activities Coordinator at the Aberdeenshire home, arranged an event for National Cream Tea Day, with residents, families and friends all in attendance.

It gave families the opportunity to meet, and residents the chance to socialise, while there was music, singing and dancing.

The event turned into such a success, the staff plan to make it a regular occurrence.

Victoria said: “We wanted to do something that got both residents and family involved. It was so lovely to see families talk to others and meet our residents.

“The atmosphere was great. We had Scottish music on, which had everyone singing at one point! There was lots of cake, tea, singing and laughter, and it put everyone in a wonderful mood.

“One lady, who only moved in on the Wednesday before, joined in, and her daughter was delighted her mum was able to go along, interact with everyone and meet other relatives.

“We had thought about making it a monthly thing as some relatives were sorry they missed it.

“Our Home Manager, Teresa Kasza, suggested we do a different theme every month, like a fruit-themed afternoon or a visit from the ice cream van.”

Whatever they decide to do next month, we can’t wait!
