kelpies in Helix Park

It was one of those days when you get up in the morning and think, “Where shall we go today?”

Rumbling Bridge resident, Marie said to the staff at Balhousie Rumbling Bridge, our specialist care facility in glorious Crook of Devon, Kinross-shire, it was a day for going out for a day trip. But where to go?  With help from fellow residents Mags and John, there was a last minute decision, a packed lunch was gathered together and they were off.

Where to? Well Marie decided it was time to visit the magical Kelpies for the day!

Helix Park is the home of The Kelpies – the largest equine sculptures in the world and a five-star tourist destination. These incredible representations of shape-shifting water spirits stand 100ft tall and weigh more than 300 tonnes each. Less magically, they are a feat of engineering modelled on real-life Clydesdale, horses Duke and Baron, symbolising the heavy horse pulling the wagons and coal-ships of bygone Falkirk.

Marie, Mags and John stood in awe below these tremendous giants on their special visit. The only thing to do then was decide where to go next!
