When a group of super-active ladies from Balhousie Rumbling Bridge took on a fitness challenge to raise money for their residents’ comfort fund, little did they know that they’d end up with a whole gym helping them reach their target!

Nichola O’Brien, Aimee Brown, Kathryn Moffat and Carole Stillie  decided in November that they would do a sponsored spin-a-thon in the home, all taking turns to hit a target of 500 miles.

It was at this point that Aimee’s parents, the owners of Studio 17 Spin & Fitness in Alloa, offered the team the use of their bikes at the gym for the spin-a-thon.

In a display of true community (and gym!) spirit, a number of gym members wanted to help, and offered to cycle with them. The result? Beginning at 10.30am, the team hit 500 miles by 3pm. And the final total was an incredible £660!

Carol Stillie, who is an Activities Coordinator at Balhousie Rumbling Bridge, said:

“From what started as a small group of us using one exercise bike, soon grew to a massive team effort at Studio 17 Spin and Fitness. We couldn’t believe we got all that support. Thank you to everyone who helped us reach 500 miles. It was a proper team effort.”

The final fundraising total is still to be announced as donations still come in. A huge success all round. Well done, Team Rumbling Bridge!
