We have full and part time hours available working predominantly night shift (please get inn touch if you are more suited to days and we can discuss options available) and including sleepovers.

Our shift patterns are typically 8am-8pm / 8pm-8am.

The Role

ASC bungalows offer accommodation in a small community setting, supporting adults with a Learning Disability who also have a diagnosis of Autism, Prader Willi and a range of communication needs. The service users require support on a 1:1 or 2:1 basis depending on their level of needs and the staff team strive to create positive outcomes and opportunities for each individual.

There are five Bungalows on-site creating an ‘own home’ feel whilst having a full staff team on hand 24 hours. Our staff are passionate about supporting individuals to be independent within their own home, and provide support to enhance life skills which in turns aides individuals to reach their full potential.

You will take part in our extensive induction and training programme which will on-board you into your role and help build knowledge and skills to meet your full potential as a Support Worker with Balhousie Care Group.

Duties Include

  • Ensure service users individual needs are met through accessing and utilising relevant communication aides and tools to allow full choice and inclusion in their care package
  • Act as a Keyworker to individual Service Users; taking on responsibility for specified areas of care and support. Ensure all medical needs are met and support the Service Users to advocate his/her own needs and wishes.
  • Support Service Users’ participation in social, leisure, educational and employment opportunities within the local community in line with ordinary life principles
  • Support Service Users to access holidays and day trips of their choice
  • Support individuals by utilising Positive Behaviour Support and pro-active strategies, which are developed in conjunction with each individual to meet their needs
  • Provide care and support as identified in care reviews and care and support plans, as directed by senior Staff Members

Skills, Abilities and Experience

  • Good communication skills (written and verbal). Ability to communicate effectively with colleagues, managers and other stakeholders, as well as having the ability and willingness to learn to adapt means of communication to meet the needs of the service users
  • A commitment to a service which provides support to vulnerable individuals, and which is respectful and according to the individuals’ wishes
  • Experience or understanding of Lone Working and the responsibilities that come with this
  • Driver’s license (desirable)
  • Ability to work in a team
  • Interest in sports (desirable)
  • Commitment to your own training and development
  • Satisfactory Police Check and check against the PVG List
  • Experience of working in a care/support setting, ideally within learning disability services (highly desirable)
  • Knowledge and understanding of issues relating to people with learning disabilities (desirable)
