A group of care home residents from across Balhousie Care Group loved their visit this week to Celtic Park.

And although the Celtic fans saw their team defeated 3-0 by Real Madrid, the event was a huge success.

Residents with dementia and carers from the homes and Balhousie’s head office watched the match from Celtic FC’s Sensory Room, which is sponsored by Balhousie Care Group.

Located in Celtic Park’s Family Stand (Lisbon Lions), the Lions’ View is specially designed to provided a full match day experience for children, young people and adults with sensory needs.

Residents watched the match through a glass screen, with Balhousie Clement Park resident Bill Caswell breaking into song with supporters in the stands, to ‘You’ll Never Walk Alone’.

Bill, who loves singing and is a massive football fan (he used to play for his local team in Dundee), is familiar on our YouTube channel for his bursts of entertainment. We love that his singing doesn’t stop no matter where he is!

Kevin Scobie, a resident from Forth View, took the trip along with Interim Home Manager Lori Fisher (both of them are pictured). The Glens resident Malcolm enjoyed lounging on some of the Sensory Room beanbags, and his Scotch pie of course!

A great evening was had by all, despite the rain and that disappointing score.
